Mr. Corbin’s architectural career began in 1977, after serving four years in the US Army as a paratrooper, attending architecture school, and working in various firms. Mr. Corbin obtained his architect license from the State of California in 1986. In 1989, Mr. Corbin joined the firm of Robert F. Stuhr, AIA, Architect Inc., and was promoted to production manager in 1993. Mr. Corbin became the principal architect in 1994 and the firm’s name was changed to Stuhr-Corbin Architects, Inc. Later that same year, Mr. Corbin purchased the firm and became President and CEO. The firm’s name was changed to SCArchitect, Inc. in 1998.

 

Mr. Corbin’s experience includes the successful completion of over 500 educational facilities projects, including new K-12 educational facilities and campuses, sports complexes, modernization of existing K-12 schools, relocatable classrooms, and deferred maintenance projects. In addition, Mr. Corbin has been project architect for other types of projects which include multi-story resort hotels in Colorado, coroner’s facilities, medical offices, shopping centers and malls, housing tract developments, historical building restorations, custom homes, restaurants, office buildings, tenant improvements, and industrial testing facilities.

 

Mr. Corbin is certified with the National Council of Architectural Registration Board (NCARB) and has been a corporate member of the American Institute of Architects(AIA) and the AIA Golden Empire Chapter since 1986. Mr. Corbin served as chapter President in the year 2000. He is a LEED®-Accredited Professional(AP) with Building Design & Construction Specialty and a registered State of California Office of Emergency Services Disaster Service Worker Volunteer.

 

Mr. Corbin is active in the community as a member of the Westchester Kiwanis Club of Bakersfield, a life member of the 82nd Airborne Division Association, a member of The Sons of the American Revolution and a youth ice hockey coach holding a USA Hockey Masters-Level 5 certification.

Brent C. Wuertz, Associate AIA

Senior Associate Project Manager

  • Technical Associates Degree-Drafting/CAD, High Tech Institute, Phoenix, AZ

Mr. Wuertz joined the firm in 1996. Mr. Wuertz came to our firm with five years of experience in the profession and proved himself to be a knowledgeable and forward-thinking team player.

Mr. Wuertz elevated himself to the position of Senior Associate Project Manager demonstrating his knowledge of building codes, his ability to coordinate plans and specifications, and perform Construction Administration duties on projects ranging from Relocatable Classrooms, Modernization of an elementary school to New Elementary Schools.

 

Mr. Wuertz has distinguished himself in his role as a Senior Associate Project Manager with the completion of many successful projects as well as his time in service and dedication to the firm and advancement of many of the staff. For his efforts, he has recently been appointed as an Associate in the firm. Congratulations Brent!

Project Architect

Mr. Smith has joined the firm as an Architect with 33 years of experience. Mr. Smith was with our predecessor firm from 1987 to 1992 before leaving the firm and continuing his career in other architectural design fields. His experience ranges from educational, commercial, federal government to medical.
